The FRS Symposium 2024, held on 11 January, brought together academic, industry and policymaking partners to showcase the FRS’ latest advancements in resilience research and discuss resilience-related topics.

The symposium delved into the core of resilience metrics, socio-technical systems, and the translation of research into practical solutions.

In the morning, the Scientific Excellence Sessions delivered thought-provoking presentations and engaging panel discussions, offering an overview of the latest advancements in resilience science. Covering urban climate resilience, social and financial resilience and cyber-physical systems, the symposium illustrated the depth and breadth of research that will shape the future of resilient communities.

The Translation of Resilience Research sessions in the afternoon focused on bridging the gap between research insights and practical application. FRS programme director, Dr Jonas Joerin, highlighted ongoing FRS initiatives and stakeholders shared strategies for making Singapore more liveable and resilient.

The symposium culminated in an FRS Exhibition, featuring demonstrations and posters by research teams, displaying tangible connections between theoretical knowledge and applied solutions.

The FRS Symposium not only served as a platform for the exchange of ideas but also strengthened a collective commitment to advancing resilience, paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient future.
