Co-Investigator of Energy Resilience in High-​Density Urban Systems

Dr Su Bin is co-​investigator of the Energy Resilience in High-​​Density Urban Systems module in the Future Resilient Systems and senior research fellow at the Energy Studies Institute (ESI), National University of Singapore (NUS). He leads the energy modelling programme at the Institute and is actively involved in energy modelling-related projects commissioned by government agencies. Dr Su is programme director of the consortium for “Study on Singapore’s Energy and Decarbonization Pathways” funded by the National Climate Change Secretariat, Singapore.

He received his PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from NUS. His research interests include energy and environmental systems modelling and analysis, focusing on energy efficiency, climate change, benchmarking, embodied energy/emissions, carbon footprint, carbon pricing, emissions trading, rebound effect, and energy resilience.

Dr Su is presently associate editor for Energy Economics, editorial board member of Reports on Economics and Finance, Chinese Journal of Population, Resources and Environment, Journal of Environmental Economics, and Journal of China University of Petroleum, guest editor of Energy Economics, Applied Energy, and Journal of Cleaner Production, and a referee for more than 90 international peer-reviewed journals. He has published more than 100 journal papers in energy journals, and edited the book “China’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation” (Springer, 2016).

He has been named the global “Highly Cited Researchers 2018 (Cross Filed)”, “Highly Cited Researchers 2019 (Economics and Business)” and “Highly Cited Researchers 2020 (Economics and Business)” in lists released by Clarivate Analytics, Top 2% of Scientist in the Energy field by the Stanford Study in 2020, and Top 1% of Economists in the World by IDEAS/RePEc Database in February 2021. He has managed and/or participated in more than 20 energy and environment projects funded by government agencies in Singapore.
