Eleni Chatzi

Module Leader & Principal Investigator

Eleni Chatzi is an Associate Professor and Chair of Structural Mechanics and Monitoring at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering of ETH Zürich. She is a Principal Investigator for the Automated Hazard Detection for Social Resilience module on development of a Mobile Sensing Platform; a project that aspires to switch the monitoring parading from fixed to mobile sensing networks.

Her research interests include Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and Intelligent Infrastructure Assessment, Structural Dynamics, and Nonlinear System Identification. She has received her PhD with Distinction from the Civil Engineering & Engineering Mechanics department at Columbia University in 2010. She has authored over 250 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, and serves as an editor for international journals in the domains of Dynamics and Monitoring. She has been awarded a Fulbright and a TUM-IAS Hans Fischer Fellowship, and is currently leading the ERC Starting Grant WINDMIL on Smart Monitoring, Inspection and Life-Cycle Assessment of Wind Turbines.
