Gerard Hertig

Principal Investigator of Financial Systems Regulation and Networks & Interactions with New Technology and Financial Systems

Gerard Hertig, a co-founder of the Center for Law & Economics at ETH Zurich, is currently working on several projects within the FRS undertaking. Previously, he served as Professor of Law at ETH Zurich (1995-2018) and Professor of Administrative Law at the University of Geneva Law School, where he was Director of its Centre d'Etudes Juridiques Européennes (1987-1995).

Gerard’s research interests are in the Law & Finance area. Publications include contributions on corporate and securities/banking law topics, among others the Anatomy of Corporate Law with Reinier Kraakman et al. (3d ed., OUP 2017 – with translations in Chinese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish). His Working Papers are available at ssrn.com.

Gerard Hertig has been a visiting professor at law schools in Asia (NUS and Tokyo University), Europe (Brussels, College of Europe, Liège, Louvain), the U.S. (Columbia and NYU) and practiced law as a member of the Geneva bar.
