Tai Kang is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, NTU Singapore and Director of the school’s part-time B.Eng.(Mech) programme. He teaches various courses in optimization, engineering design and computer-aided design/engineering.

His research interests include optimization, evolutionary computation, computational geometry, mathematical/empirical modeling of industrial processes, and analysis of risks and vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure interdependencies/networks. He is a member of ASME and ISSMO, and a member of the editorial advisory board of the journal Engineering Optimization.

Tai Kang received his B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from NUS, after which he worked as a design engineer for more than two years in the consumer electronics division of Philips Singapore before embarking on and receiving his Ph.D. from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London.

He was previously a faculty fellow of the Singapore-MIT Alliance, and presently he is also a fellow of the Renaissance Engineering Programme at NTU.
