Cai Wentong

Co-​Investigator of Resilience Analysis of High-​​Density Urban Systems

Dr Wentong Cai is co-​investigator of the Resilience Analysis of High-​​Density Urban Systems research module in Future Resilient Systems and professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He was director of the Parallel and Distributed Computing Centre (PDCC) from 2009 to 2015.

His current research interests include:

  • scalable architecture, framework, and protocols for parallel & distributed simulations
  • modelling techniques and software systems for data-driven simulations
  • methodologies and applications of agent-based modelling and simulation.

He has published extensively in these areas and has received a number of best paper awards at the international conferences for his research in distributed simulation. Dr Cai an associate editor of the ACM Transactions on Modeling and Computer Simulation (TOMACS), editor of the Future Generation Computer Systems (FGCS), and editorial board member of the International Journal of Modelling, Simulation, and Scientific Computing.

He has chaired international conferences, the most recent ones include: 40th IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems (ICDCS 2020), 19th Asia Simulation Conference (AsiaSim 2019), and 2017 ACM SIGSIM Conference on Principles of Advanced Discrete Simulation (PADS 2017).
