Dr Felix KOTTMANN
Dr. Felix Kottmann is a highly experienced researcher at the Singapore-ETH Centre, where he has dedicated over eight years to advancing critical infrastructure resilience. Currently serving as a Postdoctoral Researcher since April 2023, he leads the "Future Internet Resilience Economics" project. In this role, he is at the forefront of developing distributed DDoS defense mechanisms, crafting market mechanisms for cyber resources like bandwidth and filters, and implementing proof-of-concept solutions for distributed DDoS defense. His research extends to crucial areas such as communication constraints and Model Predictive Control for ancillary services in Virtual Power Plants.
Prior to his current position, Dr. Kottmann served as an Associate Researcher from July 2021 to March 2023, contributing to projects focused on Disaster Resilience Assessment, Modeling, and Innovation in Singapore, the utilization of Consumer Energy Usage Data in Smart City Development, and Future Internet Resilience. He honed his expertise during his tenure as a PhD Researcher from April 2017 to June 2021, concentrating on power grid repair and restoration optimization, as well as black start and restoration operations assessment. Before joining the Singapore-ETH Centre, Dr. Kottmann worked as an independent Engineering Consultant in Zurich, Switzerland, from January 2014 to March 2017, providing energy efficiency and sustainability consulting services for real estate projects across Switzerland, Germany, and the UK. His diverse background highlights a strong foundation in optimization models, problem-solving, and a deep commitment to resilient and sustainable systems.
