Nishant KUMAR
Nishant is a doctoral student at the Future Resilient Systems (FRS) at the Singapore-ETH centre and the Mobility Information Engineering (MIE) lab at ETH Zurich. He is broadly interested in formulating data-driven approaches to predict and manage urban traffic congestion. Specifically, he is interested in quantifying the challenges in using deep learning models for congestion prediction and alleviation.
Nishant comes from a mixed educational background with a master's in computer science from Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata and a bachelor's in Civil Engineering from Delhi Technological University. Before joining FRS, he worked as a research engineer at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART), where his focus was on understanding the pre-day and within-day dynamics of traffic flow under various scenarios using a microscopic traffic simulator SimMobility, which was developed at SMART.
