The world is becoming more complex than ever, with challenges and uncertainties due to the increased frequency and scale of natural hazards, impacts of climate change, economic and social instabilities, national security crises, increased displacement, and the COVID-19 outbreak.

The 2021 APRU Multi-Hazards Summer Lecture Series: external pageCreating a Resilient Society Against Multiple Hazards provides an opportunity to explore a social system required for a resilient society from different perspectives. In particular, the course will focus on necessary approaches and mechanisms that can tackle multiple-hazards, in the form of four lectures on infrastructure resilience, cyber-physical systems, and science-based risk management and community resilience.

Future Resilient Systems (FRS) researchers with diverse expertise will be contributing to this lecture, including Dr Jonas Joerin, co-director of FRS; Dr Yi Wang, postdoctoral researcher in the Resilience of High-Density Urban Systems research module; and Asst Prof. Jimmy Peng, principal investigator of Data Network Resilience in Cyber-Physical Systems research module.

This lecture series is led by the APRU Multi-Hazards Program in partnership with Tohoku University, Singapore-ETH Centre, National University of Singapore, and SEEDS. The series of four lectures takes place over 2 days and is limited to 100 participants. A certificate will be awarded to participants who complete all four lectures.
