ETH Risk Center Resilience Webinar:
Towards Occupant-driven District System Operation: A Digital Twin Platform for Energy and Climate Resilience

Date: Tue, 4 April
Time: 6.15pm SGT/ 12.15pm CET
Zoom Link: external pagehttps://ethz.zoom.us/j/66061964702

Speaker: Dr Martín Mosteiro Romero

Webinar Abstract:
The increasing frequency and magnitude of major disruptive events in urban areas has increasingly brought attention to the resilience of the built environment against climate change impacts and associated disruptions. This talk will present the ongoing development of a digital twin platform for planners and system operators to assess the effects of the urban climate and district operation strategies on energy resilience and occupant well-being in urban areas. The platform will combine measured data as well as energy, occupant behavior and urban climate models at the district to urban scale. A pilot district-scale case study along with ongoing efforts to expand to the urban scale will be presented.

Speaker:
Dr. Martín Mosteiro Romero is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore as part of the Future Resilient Systems (FRS) programme, Singapore–ETH Centre. Martín holds a PhD in Architecture and Building Systems and a Masters in Energy Science and Technology from ETH Zürich, as well as a B.S. in Bioenvironmental Engineering from Rutgers University in the USA. At FRS, he is investigating how to use digital twins to improve the resilience of building systems and urban districts.
